In Queensland, we offer four styles of Edmund Rice Camps, each catering to the needs of our local communities.
Our programs typically take place during school holidays and are designed and implemented by our volunteers, who make up a Leadership team.
We deliver 6 week- long camps per year; 3x Traditional, 2x Hybrid and 1x Family.
We also partner with local secondary schools to deliver an overnight program called Head2Heart; 6x H2H per year.
Check out our camp and Head2Heart dates for 2020 by clicking on these links: HEAD2HEART dates or CAMP dates.
Traditional camps are our original model of program.
Children are specifically buddied with volunteer mentors for the program of games and team- building activities. Our 1:1 ratio with children and volunteers is further supported by a leadership team.
Our traditional camps are typically three nights from Tuesday- Friday on most school holidays. Camps are held at an outdoor recreational centres across Queensland.
Suitable for children aged 11-13
Hybrid camps are for the teenagers!
We don't match our teens too tightly with a buddy, to allow for a more organic approach to peer-mentoring, where participants are free to connect with those they have things in common with.
Our Hybrid camps are typically three nights from Tuesday- Friday on most school holidays. Camps are held at an outdoor recreational centres across Queensland.
Suitable for children aged 14-16
Family camps are super unique and super awesome!
We invite an entire family unit onto a program to work together with volunteers to support strong relationships within the unit.
We deliver one Family camp per year and hold the program for three nights Tuesday- Friday during school holidays at a local outdoor recreational venue.
Suitable for all ages.
Head 2 Heart camps are our social justice training programs.
We partner with secondary schools to facilitate an overnight program for their students who act as 'big- buddies' to participants.
This leadership development program is aimed at senior students looking to positively impact their local community. Senior schools partner with us to offer the program for their students. We liaise with organisation partners to refer the children and host it at the school overnight from Friday to Saturday.
